Was it a strange coincidence? Probably. His name was Alex. They had this whole enemies with benefits thing going on. They screwed like animals. It reminded her almost exactly of her old relationship with Alessandro.
It definitely was strange.
Running her fingers through her messy hair, she sat up on the bare mattress, the moon's light pouring in through the bare windows. She should decorate her apartment but wouldn't that just be a waste of her time? She was leave in a two weeks anyway. It didn't matter if she made the place feel more at home or not. Sucking on her cigarette, she blew out the smoke while dumping some of the ashes into the ashtray on her floor which was basically a can of beer left over from God knows when. By all means Svetlana was not a messy person. It was why the beer can was on a coaster on the wooden flooring. Her bed was a mattress on the floor with a thin sheet and a pillow since it was only a twin size, she went out to eat for every meal so her kitchen was virtually empty of everything except water, beer, and the occasional tub of icecream, her living room/dinning room had two bean bag chairs and a gigantic television with every single game console known to man kind and a gigantic library of video games in boxes. It looked as if she just moved in and in a way she did. Hell, her regular clothing was still in boxes in her tiny closet in her room. The only thing that looked impressive was her surround sound system because, well, she had a thing for electronics. Most people would say she had all the essentials a man could ever want-only she was Svetlana.
She had no other furniture, no curtains on her windows, and she didn't have any pets. She wasn't lonely. She had everything she ever needed. No excess. Boot camp had taught her that. As she heard him stir, she glanced over at the body next to her. Alex Masters. She met him randomly on the streets one night, disliked and liked him instantly. She loved getting under his skin and pissing him off because then he wasn't so...nice. Maybe she was just looking for her old life back but there was no turning back now. All she wanted was to keep moving forward like those Toyota commercials where the symbol would turn into a happy face. She didn't want to die, even if she did sometimes give off that impression. She just wanted...something more out of life and she figured the Marines could give it to her practically in the palm of her hand in exchange for a few years. Reasonable enough in her eyes.
As her eyes roamed over his body, it dawned on her that he was nothing like Alessandro and that might have been the reason why she liked him but the fact remained they had similarities and that was why she disliked him. Taking a deep drag, she held her breathe as she carefully placed the cancer stick on the beer can and swung one leg over so there was one on either side of him. Leaning in, she pressed her lips against his full ones, her shoulder length hair falling like curtains around their faces, and she let out the intoxicating smoke from her own mouth into his own to wake him up. She knew that was dangerous-could make him choke-but that was how they were. No amount of delicious, angry fling sex was going to change that, "Lazy ass bum," she whispered seductively into his ear as she bit down on his neck, fingers grabbing at his skin on his abdomen.
God he was so delicious and the fact he was poor sort of made it seem more rebellious and adventurous. He was everything she didn't want, everything she didn't need, and all with just the right about of ecstasy and forbidden nature.
