But he still has his strange Icelandic-English hybrid accent from being taught the language by a native of Woking. He still feels penned in and forgotten in the hugeness of New York. He sings to chase away the loneliness and at night he cuddles up to his melodica. Falling in love is the kind of thing that happens to other people, Kit only ever stumbles. He’s given up now, and the possibility of replacing his singing with the sound of someone sleeping next to him is more of a remote dream than an achievable ambition.

hello darling!
i'd like to throw at you some of my characters and see what we can come up with.

first, i have lena. she's a bit of a boozer and slightly destructive as far as personalities go, but she doubles as a studious little choir girl when faced with the presence of her brother, hector. she's twenty one and grew up in greece, and although she's quite abrasive and rough, she's a sweetheart on the inside and really enjoys spending time with people she cares about. i need to get some things going with her, so whatever you can think of would be great <3

then i have hector, who i honestly don't think would have anything to do with him.

and finally, ruby. she's currently in a relationship thing with flor, but i feel like she might have a sort of puppy crush on him, haha. also, in terms of reality, i don't know how they'd meet - perhaps he played somewhere and she was there? she doesn't have much in the way of consistent hobbies, so it wouldn't be surprising if she went out for a bit, haha. nothing, of course, would come from this fixation except a dull realization of how much she really does like flor. but regardless, it could be amusing for the little while it lasts? <3

alex is a musician :0 atm he's also homeless so the chances of them running into each other are pretty big
alex spends his homeless time sitting against buildings or fountains with a hat next to him, playing his guitar. he's from ireland so maybe their unfamiliarness of being in new york will bond them a bit closer? plus alex is really outgoing and can talk your ear off :D

Lena & Kit With them I was thinking they could meet at a club, which is a biiit cliché. Or possibly he could meet her and Hector at the same time and thinks she'll be a really good influence on him but once they're away from Hector it becomes clear they're terrible, terrible influences on each other. Then they go clubbing. Either way they'll get drunk and dance.

Ruby & Kit I really like that idea, although like you said I'm not sure where they could meet. They could meet at a gig he's playing at, but Kit's music is a bit experimental at the moment. Its up to you whether or not you think she'd be interested in watching him in an underground club performing 15 minute songs performed entirely with a theramin and instruments fashioned out of root vegetables. If not they can meet somewhere else, like a more conventional gig or just out and about in New York.

Alex & Kit I was looking at Alex's application and thinking they should be friends I can see them getting chatting.

well, clearly i'm not one much for ideas. that being said, i can see ruby doing something like that solely because she was never exposed to it as a child (oddly enough, given that both of her parents harbored intense drug addictions all throughout her childhood), and she feels like she missed a lot.

i also like the idea of lena growing progressively worse as she spends time with him; she's already a bit crazy, but she'd probably find worse things to do then smoke pot when she's spending large amounts of time with someone who plays on vegetable roots.

but yeah. there's my lovely contribution. xD

I just realised I never finished my last post before I sent it. Clever me.
Yeah Alex and Kit should run into each other on the street while Alex is busking, maybe sharing a fag. I can imagine Kit wanting to try busking but being too scared so he'll be pretty happy to chat too haha

Shall I do a post of Kit playing at a gig? I've got family coming over tomorrow and some of them are staying over night but hopefully I should be able to get a post up by the 29th
Where do you think Kit and Lena would meet? I'm drawing a bit of a blank because frankly it could be anywhere. Maybe just out and about in NY or somewhere like a coffee shop? Wherever you can think of, Kit'll probably be there being interesting and unusual ha
